Dear Family,
The weeks are seriously just flying by. I've been in
denial this past week. When you enter the MTC, they give you a
proselyting certificate that says you are an authorized representative
of the church until a certain date. That date generally indicates when
you release date will be within a few days. Mine says December 9, 2013
:( BOOO!!!! If that is accurate then I'm on less than a year left in my
mission, and it's really really really depressing! With the switch in
the missionary age and the length of time in the MTC, my date might
change (we are going to have some funky transfers in Feb-March to make
up for the changes. We might have one 9 week transfer and one 3 week
transfer), but it's really sad to think that a third of my mission has
already passed by! There is still so much work to do!
This week has been a really good week! It's been pretty crazy
because I've seen TWO people I know at the sites this week! So do you
remember when I got my mission call how a girl I went to EFY with got me
connected with her sister who also served in my mission? Well, that
sister came into the sites this week with her husband to visit her old
mission! She came and found me at the Hill while I was working. It was
so fun to meet her in person. She was really sweet. I asked her for
advice and she gave me some pointers which was great! She is so sweet
and she has the cutest kids ever!
Then, I was working at the BOMPS on Friday and Spencer Jones and his
wife come walking in! It was so crazy! I had been in the back room and
the Strouds had greeted them while Sister Fetuli and I were getting our
site Book of Mormons. I walked out to greet the tour and he turns around
and says, "WHITNEY?!?!" It was so crazy! The chances that I was the one
working at the BOMPS when he came in were so slim! It was really fun to
take he and his wife on tour. His wife is so nice! They are really fun
together.
I'm about out of time now,
but I love you all. Thanks for all of the support! Jane, I loved the
story you told this week in your letter about Beck helping Alex down the
stairs. Them boys is so big. Tell them Aunt Whitney loves them! Miss
you all so much! I'm calling (maybe Skyping but we are planning on
calling more than Skyping) Mom and Dad at 11 a.m. my time, 9 a.m. Utah
time on Christmas Day and I'm soooo excited!
Love you all times a billion!
Sister Butters
