Why chocolate and vanilla in the subject
line you might ask? It's a nickname some of the senior elders gave
Sister Madsen and I since she's brown and I'm white. Ha ha ha funny
funny. Elder Fuller always gives nicknames to companionships. I've been
"Butters & Cream and the Dancing Queen" (Sister Adams and I),
"Butters & Cream and the Tongan Queen" (Sister Fetuli and I), now
"Butters & Cream and the Chocolate Queen" for Sister Madsen and I ha
ha.
Anywho, it's been a great, and very busy week! Since
it was transfers last week, a lot of what we did this week had to do
with getting the new sisters settled and trained. We took them on a tour
of the sites with their trainers last Wednesday, then had dinner at the
Searle's and did some training on setting goals for the sites, site
manuals, site protocol, etc. We have two new sisters. They are
both awesome and have totally hit the ground running! We have 10, yes
TEN, new sisters coming this next transfer, which is only 5 weeks, so we
needed some sisters to come this transfer that are super prepared, and
they are :) Heavenly Father really does answer prayers! I found out
yesterday at our meeting with the Searles (we have one every Sunday to
plan site meeting) that most of those sisters coming out next transfer
are 19! Super crazy!
Part of my job as site trainer is we observe two tours a week given
by the other sisters. We just rotate through all the sisters to make
sure we see them all in a transfer. It's just for training purposes, but
I LOVE it because I always learn SO MUCH! Since it hasn't been
amazingly busy at the sites lately, if a real tour doesn't come, Sister
Madsen and I will have the sisters take us on a role play tour. Normally
we will pretend to be someone else, but when we went to observe Sisters
Gillespie and Jones at the Smith Farm, they wanted us to go on the tour
and just be ourselves. Ha ha I know it sounds kind of silly, but I
haven't been on a tour as myself since my first day in the mission.
Obviously, I most often GIVE the tour, and if I'm not giving the tour,
I'm pretending to be a random person.
It was an AMAZING opportunity to go on a tour as
myself. They invited us toward the beginning of the tour to think of
someone we know who needs upliftment. I obviously ask the same thing on
every tour that I take, so when they asked us to do that I thought,
"O.K. Heavenly Father, I ask people to do this all the time. Will you
please help me think of someone?" We went on the tour and everything
they said was exactly what I needed to hear. We talked a lot about the
light of the gospel and increasing faith, and Sister Gillespie and Jones
really were leading the tour by the Spirit and discerning our needs.
When we were in the upstairs of the log home, a name popped into my head It was just a really big testimony-building
experience for me to be able to do something I ask others to do all the
time. I KNOW that if we pray and ask Heavenly Father to help us think of
someone to share the gospel with or to uplift, that He WILL answer that
prayer.
You know you're a online proselyting missionary nerd when one of
the highlights of your week is the fact that a new Mormon Message was
released :) Ha ha yes, I watch enough Mormon Messages to know which ones
are new. This one is AWESOME. It's kind of sad at first, but the
message is so true. Heavenly Father never gives us a mountain to climb
that we can't handle. The key is that we trust Him and allow Christ to
carry us through! Watch it! Here's the link:
Anyway,
I'm about out of time now. Sorry this one is kind of a jumble of
thoughts, but it's been seriously an AMAZING week! Thank you so much for
all the love and support! I couldn't do this without all of you! Miss
you tons and love you times a billion!
Love,
