I can't believe it's already P-day
again. Time just flies on by. I can't believe I've been out 11 months
now :S Tell time to slow down a bit, ok?
Things this week have been pretty good. The sites picked up
like no other last weekend because of Memorial Day. I worked at the
BOMPS Saturday and Sunday and barely sat down both days because there
were so many tours. We went from having about 140 people through each
site each day to 450! Summer, here we come! From June 2 until the end of
the month we have a bus tour coming through the sites pretty much every
day. I LOVE it when it is busy.
Speaking of Memorial Day, did you know that
Waterloo, New York is the founding location for Memorial Day? That's
where the Peter Whitmer farm is! Yeah, that pretty much means my mission
is famous... not that it wasn't already because of the sites and all :)
I had also found a scripture in my personal study
yesterday in Jacob 7:5. It's where Jacob is contending with Sharem, the
anti-Christ, and Sharem is trying to convince him that the visions and
revelations has has received were false. Jacob writes about how he could
not be shaken from his knowledge and faith. It reminded me a lot of
Joseph's experience. "I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I
could not deny it." That's what he said in response to the persecution.
It's up to us to hold onto our testimonies with everything that we have.
Satan isn't a very creative guy. He's using the same old tactics that
he used when Sharem was contending with Jacob: he wants us to forget
about Christ. If we forget about Christ, everything else falls apart
because He IS the Plan of Salvation. There wouldn't be a plan without
him. Moral of the story? Don't let Satan win. Ok? Ok! :)
Sister Madsen and I did a training for site meeting
yesterday on language. It's something I need to work on getting the "um"
out of my vocabulary :) Ha ha remember my farewell talk and what a mess
that was? It was such a great training! We were so afraid everyone
would see it as us laying the law down dictator style but it was so
uplifting. We were able to brainstorm as a group over-used words and
their alternatives. I wish I could speak as well as I can write (which
might be going down the tube now since I haven't had time to write on my
blog since I became site trainer but I have faith it will come back
eventually), so it's something I'm working on now. The words we use
influence how the Spirit is felt in our tours. Sister Muir (one of the
senior sisters) brought up how in the Doctrine and Covenants the Savior
repeatedly refers to Joseph and others as His friends. It was a power
reminder that we are His representatives here to bring our brothers and
sisters back to Him, and we should speak in a way that respects that
calling.
I'm sorry this is a pretty lame email. Just stay
true to what is true, and it is all true! I'm so grateful for this
opportunity to be a missionary. I love serving Him with all my heart and
I love the people here too. I know He is preparing their hearts to
receive this message and that we WILL find them if we continue on in
diligence.
Thanks for all the love and support. I couldn't do it without all of you! Miss you and love you times a billion!
Love,
