Dear Family,
It's weird to think a week has already passed since I
last wrote, yet at the same time it feels like ages ago! I'll take that
feeling as a good sign ;-)
This week at the sites has been great. I worked my first shift at the
Peter Whitmer farm, so I've officially had experience at all of them!
It's been really great every shift to see how much I am able to learn.
There's a lot of information to memorize, but bringing the Spirit into
the situation is the most important part.
It's interesting because obviously a lot of members come through the
sites. Some of them even say to us "Oh, we don't need you schpiel (or
however you spell it). We are members so we know everything about these
places." That really throws me through a loop when they say that.
Sometimes I want to say, "Well then why in the heck are you here?!?" but
I don't. I just go ahead and give them the tour and bear testimony in
the way the Spirit tells me to. Little do they know that God led them
here for a reason, and that reason is to have their testimonies
strengthened. EVERYONE needs strengthening and to come closer to Christ,
even people who have been members for 50+ years. It's so neat to be a
part of that process, even if people don't realize that they need it.
I know I still have so much to learn, but I'm so grateful to be here! I
LOVE New York so much! It's so beautiful here and I feel so blessed to
interact with members and non-members every day and see the Spirit bring
them closer to Christ. I feel so spoiled to be serving in the best
mission on Earth!!!
I love you all sooo much and I miss you! Thank you for being so
supportive! I love this work and I know without a doubt that it's true. I
know God loves all of you and that the Savior is always there to take
on our burdens if we let Him!
