Dear family,
Over and over again we hear as
missionaries that the reward we receive is the joy that comes from seeing lives
change. I think I might EXPLODE of joy for all the amazing things that have
happened this week. Yes, being a missionary isn't always a walk in the park.
Yes, I know things will continue to be hard throughout the remainder of my
mission. But, this past week has made every hard day that has ever happened or
will ever happen 100 percent worth it.
It all started last Thursday. We spent
our morning getting an oil change and trying to contact a few referrals that
weren't home. Then we went to the Smith Farm for our shift. It was a slow day
and I ONLY got to take one tour. We went to the upstairs of the Log Home and I
knew I needed to share a scripture but I didn't know what it was. So I just
said, "I know the Book of Mormon is true because of how I feel when I read
it. One of my favorite scriptures is..." Ha ha I thought, "Yes,
Spirit, what is the scripture you want me to share right now?" I honestly
just opened my mouth with absolutely no idea what to say or what scripture to
turn to, but then the Spirit took over. It's one of the times on my mission
that I've really felt the promise "open your mouth and it shall be
filled" come true. I shared Moroni 10:4-5 and talked about how to discern
truth in general, not just the truth of the Book of Mormon. It might seem like
a small story, but it meant a lot to me.
We worked at the BOMPS on Saturday
and I was just feeling so pumped to be a missionary. I took several really good
tours where the people were there to learn and they just kept commenting on how
my enthusiasm was contagious. It's called the Spirit! One family even came back
in later in the shift to tell me thank you again but I was on tour so Sister
Killen passed the message along.
Thank you so much for your thoughts,
prayers and support. None of this would be possible without you. I've never
been happier than now! I love being a missionary with all my heart, and I love
all of you with all my heart too. Miracles happen and I know they are happening
in your lives too.
Love you all and miss you all times
a billion!
Love,
Sister Butters
