Dear Family,
Anyway, so I just started explaining to you the
storm update, I just wanted to get an email off to you all ASAP in case
you've been watching the news and worrying! We don't know much of what
is going on because we obviously don't watch the news, but from what I
hear there's the hurricane, an arctic burst and another storm coming our
way and the only place all three will intersect is the Rochester area.
Ha ha pretty crazy huh? We are just hunkering down in our apartment for
the next two days. As in not leaving at all after we go home right after
emailing. We have to cancel all our teaching appointments and we can't
go to the sites. Crazy! I'm going to feel so lazy the next two days! No
worries though, we are going to be completely safe. We have enough water
and food to last us about 4 days (not that I think we aren't going to
leave for 4 days, but we are just being safe since that's what President
has asked us to do). Later today Sisters Adams, Hawkes, Graham and I
are going to build a fort and watch some church videos (pictures to
come)! Ha ha. We are going to try to do some lessons over the phone too
so we will just try to fill the time.
We had a specialized training on Thursday with President and it was
AMAZING!!! Sister Adams said President told her a while ago that he
wanted to teach us about the house of Israel because whenever he starts
teaching an institute class he starts on that because it helps you
understand the Bible and the Book of Mormon so much more. Sister Adams
and I have been joking and hoping that he would do the House of Israel
and guess what he did?! THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL! It was so awesome. It
seriously made everything make so much more sense, and it makes
missionary work so much more meaningful too. He taught us about how we
as missionaries are going about helping people remember who they are,
and that is members of the house of Israel. We are a covenant people and
we are bringing the other members of the covenant back into the fold
and inviting those not part of the House of Israel by blood to receive
the same blessings. I just love being a missionary! I'll explain more
about the training in a letter because I'm going to have plenty of time
to write the next 2 days. I'll even draw you a chart to help all of you
understand it more. Ha ha it's seriously mind boggling and reminds me
that Heavenly Father knows us and has a plan for us!!!
They've put computers at all the sites now so we are now able to
Mormon.org chat when the sites aren't busy! Sister Adams and I have done
it twice this week. Both times we talked to members of the church,
which was ok because they need help too.
Anyway, I'm about out of time now. I'll definitely write you a letter in
all my spare time in the next two days.
Love you all soooooooooooo much! Thanks for all the love, support and prayers.
Love,
Sister Butters
